About the practice
Small by design. Personal on purpose.
Still Waters is two therapists, one quiet office and a simple belief: people heal in relationships where they feel safe, seen and unhurried.
Why “Still Waters”
Calm isn’t the absence of depth. It’s what lets you see into it.
The practice opened in 2014 with a single room and a waiting list of people who wanted something slower than the clinic model: fewer forms, longer sessions, a therapist they would see every time. The name came from an old proverb — still waters run deep — and from the lake Maya grew up beside.
- Independent and clinician-owned. No corporate targets, no 20-minute slots.
- Small caseloads so there is energy and attention for every client.
- Continuing education every year in trauma, couples and culturally responsive care.

I became a therapist because I believe people change most in relationships where they feel genuinely safe. My job is to build that kind of room with you — steady, honest and unhurried — and then bring the right tools into it.
I work with adults navigating anxiety, burnout, grief and the aftermath of difficult experiences, and with couples who want to feel like a team again. Outside the office you will find me on a trail with my dog, or trying — and failing — to keep houseplants alive.

How I work
Collaborative and transparent. I draw on CBT, EMDR and ACT, and I will always explain what we are doing and why. You set the pace; I keep us pointed somewhere useful.

I came to this work after a decade in community mental health, where I learned that the most powerful intervention is often simply being fully present with someone. I bring that — plus solid training — to every session.
I work with couples at every stage, and with adults in their twenties and thirties navigating anxiety, identity and big life transitions. Sessions with me are warm, direct and often a little funny. I offer therapy in English and Spanish.

How I work
Attachment-focused and practical. We will look at the patterns you are caught in, understand where they come from, and practice something different — in the room, and then at home.
The space
A room that feels more like a living room than a clinic.
Soft chairs, plants, good light, a white-noise machine in the hall. The office sits on the second floor of a quiet converted house on Linden Avenue, with an elevator, a private waiting area and tea that is actually drinkable.
- Easy to reach — street parking, a bus stop at the corner, and bike racks out front.
- Accessible — step-free entrance, elevator, and an accessible restroom on our floor.
- Private — staggered appointment times so you rarely cross paths with other clients.
